The Gloucestershire Echo’s chief football writer Jon Palmer returned to The Locker Room to review another season in the Football League for Cheltenham Town which saw the Robins comes close again to achieving promotion.

The counties premier football club also reached the third round of the FA Cup and Palmer, who has scribed two books on the Robins, delivered his reaction on a campaign which saw CTFC miss out in the semi-finals against Northampton.

He touched on everything from the end of season movements with the comings and goings at Whaddon Road while also looked back at the League 2 campaign for the whole of the division with the play off final between Bradford and the Cobblers this weekend.

There’s also his thoughts on Gloucester City’s groundshare at Whaddon Road, the next season for the Robins in League Two and much more in a packed hour of Cheltenham Town chat.

With another season over and done with for Stroud’s biggest football clubs The Locker Room takes a look back at another season of fantastic guests that have featured on the show.

There are the best bits from interviews with real star names representing football in the Stroud district.

Forest Green Rovers trio James Norwood, Stephen Brogan and Sam Russell feature from their time on the show while there are words from BBC Gloucestershire’s Paul Furley and FGR vice-chairman David Drew too.

Legendary former top flight referee Brian Stevens also features as well as Shortwood United boss John Evans among others.

The show also has the latest on former FGR player news and the latest from Hellenic Premier Slimbridge in their attempts to move sideways into the Western League.

With the season coming to a close The Locker Room took a look back at another fantastic year for Stroud’s premier football clubs.

There is a game by game, month by month look at Forest Green Rovers fifteen season at Football Conference level with interviews from Yan Klukowski, chairman Dale Vince, manager David Hockaday and Magno Vieira.

Hellenic League sides Slimbridge and Brimscombe & Thrupp are also looked at as they both enjoyed tremendous campaigns meanwhile there’s an overview given on Shortwood United’s first ever year in the Southern League plus the thoughts of their boss – John Evans.

On the show there is also the latest on some former FGR players including the likes of Alex Sykes and Jon Challinor plus the latest on all of the football across the district.

Forest Green Rovers chairman Dale Vince was the special guest on The Locker Room for a second time with an in depth 35 minutes worth of interesting discussion about how he felt about the club’s fifteenth season in the Conference.

Vince also discussed major issues around the club from former personnel Trevor Horlsey and Colin Peake to ground design changes as well as looking to the future with upcoming pre-season arrangements against top opposition.

The eco tycoon also reveals FGR’s transfer plans, speaks about the club’s kit change, the FGR Supporters Club, the club’s wage bill, why he’s backing manager David Hockaday and much more.

Hockaday himself is also on interview giving his reaction to how FGR have just come up short in their pursuit for play off glory in their 2012-13 campaign but will try again next season.

With the season closing in Forest Green boss David Hockaday was on interview giving his reaction to Rovers final home game of the season against Dartford where FGR slumped to yet another defeat and fell to 8th in the league.
Hockaday reacts to the game, a poor performance from the officials and gives his highlights of what has been a long and tiresome campaign.
FGR front man Magno Vieira is also on interview reflecting on his first season at the Blue Square Bet Premier club which he admits didn’t quite match up to his high expectations. The Brazilian also describes what benefits Rovers would have picked up that will assist them in their next campaign.
There is also a look back at the previous weeks guests, Brimscombe & Thrupp duo Mike Beckingham and Adam Thomas, and some of the answers they gave to their promotion winning season on the show.
Meanwhile there’s also a look at FGR’s poor disciplinary record which has seen them pick up nine red cards this season while the show casts an eye over potential contenders for the FGR Player of the Year award.

Brimscombe & Thrupp duo Adam Thomas and Mike Beckingham made their debuts on The Locker Room to discuss another fantastic campaign for the Lilywhites which has seen them win Division One West of the Hellenic League.

‘Becks’, who is the London Road based club sides top scorer this season and ‘Ads’, who has shone in goal yet again this season for B&T, discussed the way in which Brimscombe have secured another promotion, this time into the Hellenic Premier.

The duo also explained their thoughts on the magnificent cup runs that have happened at the club this season, next season and their opportunity to play at a higher level with entry into the FA Vase as well as their very interesting career paths in the local game which have seen them take in time from as high as the Hellenic League to as low as the Stroud League.

Forest Green Rovers manager David Hockaday was also on the show with an exclusive interview discussing his plans for the summer, an honest and frank assessment of his team in this current campaign and reviewing Rovers defeat to local rivals Hereford United.

Brimscombe & Thrupp manager Phil Baker returned to Stroud FM for the first time in 2013 to discuss his Lilywhites side and their pursuit for promotion into the Hellenic Premier Division which is reaching its closing stages.

Baker, who has led Brimscombe to promotion through the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League and Gloucestershire County League, discussed his sides recent form including key matches that have seen the London Road club retain their status as Hellenic Division One West leaders.

He also touches on issues across the Hellenic League including the sad demise of Witney Town, the decision made by near neighbours Slimbridge of moving into the Western League and much more in an action packed hour of local football chat.

The show also includes interviews with Forest Green Rovers manager David Hockaday after Rovers latest defeat against Grimsby Town while full back Chris Stokes is also on interview discussing that defeat and looking ahead to Rovers clash with relegation strugglers Barrow this weekend.

Forest Green Rovers goalkeeper Sam Russell featured as the first time as special guest on The Locker Room – discussing a career that has taken in some fascinating spells with a former Premier League giant as well as throughout the Football League and non-league sector.

Russell describes life at Forest Green after recently passing the 50 league appearances milestone, Rovers chances of making the play-offs and becoming a Football League club and some of his team mates and latest news coming out of the Nailsworth outfit.

When discussing an interesting career, Russell touches on his early days progressing through the system at the Riverside Stadium in the Premier League and the loan spells that toughened him up at the likes of Gateshead, Scunthorpe United and his early days with Darlo.

He also focuses on his times with the likes of Rochdale and Wrexham – his relationship with managers of those clubs and what it was like lifting the FA Trophy at Wembley as he helped Darlo to the FA Trophy in 2011 before the club’s soon to be sad and quick demise.
