The Mystery Train - 09/06 - hosted by Alex Huskisson

10 Jun 2013 by TheMysteryTrain

All aboard! A program that showcases music from a selection of the best songwriters – local, national and international. Included in this weeks show – A pre-recorded interview / live session with Bristol singer songwriter Tom Mitchell. Tom has toured with the likes of Duffy in the past – and will be supporting ex Bluetones main man Mark Morriss (on Friday the 14/06 at The Fleece in Bristol)! We’ve been playing tracks from Tom’s debut ep ‘Ruthless Thing’ on the program a while and this show see’s Tom talking about songwriting, influences and why it’s taken such a long time to release his own music. We also get the chance to hear a brand new song (and a couple of older ones) in a wonderful live session. I also air 2 other interviews this week… one with a group called ‘Skinny Lister’ – who (quite frankly) were the ‘new discovery’ of the Wychwood festival (Cheltenham)! I grabbed a chat back stage prior to an amazing live performance that totally captivated me! Musically – think of English ‘sea-shanties’ and an amazing gift for melodic folk songs! The other group I talk with are ‘Moulettes’ – They’ve been hailed as front-runners of the new British acoustic scene. This groups album ‘The Bears Revenge’ is a fantastic listen. We talk music, songwriting and discover why it’s nigh impossible to pigeon hole them! We also air tracks from David Bowie, Mark Knopfler, Tom Waits, Billy Bragg, Bell X1, The Kinks and lots more! See ‘The Mystery Train’ facebook page for further info about the show… https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Mystery-Train/378183978870637?ref=hl – If you enjoy what you hear please go ‘like’ my page and the StroudFM facebook page.
